Best way to BLUP?

Hey all. I've been trying to get full BLUP on a dam and sire pair, and have managed to age up and Bold the 3 skills (and more) necessary, but am struggling to get the 20 victories. They're consistently placing 2nd place at the highest, and I can't develop their skills more. Their skills are too high for the easy races. Any tips on how I can get the victories?

Generally, entering horses in competitions where they have high skills for the secondary and tertiary skills, but low skills for the primary, is a good idea. E.g. enter thoroughbreds (whose top skills are gallop, speed, dressage), in trot competitions (where you need trot, speed, dressage). This means you can enter lower level competitions while increasing the likelihood of winning them.
Teams will often use low level horses (or those with a high primary skill and low secondary/tertiary ones) to ‘fill’ competitions so that their horse of choice gets wins more easily.
