horse skills and genetics

Hoi there i have a little question about the game, as everyone i am looking for a good horse to breed from and do competition.
i found a foal that has like 17.000 skills (not sure how to say it) but it’s genetics are at 4.000
does that mean that when i breed it will it be a good horse or not cause his skills are high but genetics are low
im not sure if someone will understand it but if yes please explain me how it works
( can the genetics of the foal be 17.000 or will it be around 4.000 aswell)default smiley :)

the quality of an offspring of a horse depends on two things only. The GP of the horse, and the BLUP of the horse. Its skills have nothing to do with it. What you are looking at is probably a pastry foal, which is the offspring of a Pastry Divine horse. You can find them on the Special horses page and read up on them. They're good at winning comps etc because of their high skills, but not so good for breeding because of their low GP.

What you want, is a horse with as high a GP as you can afford, then fully BLUP it by training, doing rides and comps to gain all points possible in the horse's top three skills, by winning 20 comps with it and by getting the horse to the age of 10. You can read more about BLUP in the breeders manual.
