New version of the Howrse mobile App is available

Hello everyone,

The new version of the Howrse mobile App is now available on iOS and Android!

If you already use the App, make sure to update it to enjoy the new experience. And if you've never really given the mobile version a try before, it now may be the perfect time to jump in.

The biggest change is the switch to landscape mode. This evolution allows us to offer a much more complete Howrse experience on mobile, with navigation and gameplay that are now much closer to the web version.

This update also includes several changes to the interface and navigation, including:
➞ Switch to landscape mode on mobile;
➞ New organisation of certain menus;
➞ Events and offers grouped into a single section;
➞ Ascent of Olympus now accessible from this section;
➞ Updated payment methods available in the app.

The web version has also received a redesigned header to better align the website and the mobile App, creating a more modern and consistent experience across both platforms.

As with any interface update, it may take a little time to get used to the changes. We hope these improvements will make navigating Howrse easier and more enjoyable in the long run.

We'd love to hear your thoughts! Feel free to share your feedback, first impressions, suggestions, or any issues you encounter in the comments below. Your feedback helps us continue improving the game and the mobile experience.

We look forward to reading your comments!
The Howrse Team

Hello everyone,

First of all, thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share their thoughts on the recent interface changes.

We've been reading your comments across all our channels since the launch. We know this update has sparked a lot of discussion, and we appreciate everyone who has taken the time to explain what they like, what they don't, and what they feel could be improved.

Before launch, the update went through a testing phase with our ambassadors, and several adjustments were made based on their input. However, given the scope of the project and the timeline we were working with, not every point raised could be addressed beforehand.

We're continuing to gather impressions from the wider community and share them with the team so they can help guide future improvements.

We are also aware of the issues and bugs some of you have encountered since the launch. The team is working hard to identify and resolve them as quickly as possible.

Please continue sharing your experience in a constructive way. Whether positive or negative, your comments help us better understand how these changes are being received by players.

If you are having technical issues, please try some troubleshooting steps:

For the Browser: clear cache and cookies, try using Incognito Mode, try with a different browser. Make sure the browsers are updated.
Remove the "m" from the mobile link. Example: "https://m.howrse.co.uk/" should be "https://www.howrse.co.uk/".

For the App: clear the App Cache and Data. If it doesn’t help, please uninstall the App, restart your device, and then reinstall it.

If this doesn't help, please reach out to Support so that they can investigate further: How to contact the Support Team.

Thank you for your patience and for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

The Howrse Team

Hello everyone,

In response to your feedback and the survey conducted last week, our teams have been working hard to quickly roll out our updates to the mobile app and the web version.

Here are the main changes planned:

➞ As you voted in the survey, the header will return to its previous behavior: it will remain at the top of the page and will no longer follow you as you scroll.

➞ The carousel for ongoing promotions and events is returning and will be located in the header. The "Today" button will therefore be removed from the web version to avoid redundancy.

➞ For versions that still have a forum, links to the "Events" and "Game Play" sections will be added to the drop-down menu. The other sections will remain accessible via the "All forums" link.

We hope to roll out these changes by the end of the week.

We hope you'll like these adjustments and that they'll make your daily gaming experience more enjoyable. Our teams have been working tirelessly over the past few days to bring you these improvements, which will better align with your gaming habits and expectations.

Thank you again for your involvement, your suggestions, and your patience!

Please add the option to switc back to classic on browser.

Nothing has been an improvement in terms of navigation, I dont like the sticky title bar, it's of no use and gets in the way when scrolling down. Having had everything set upo to play perfectly on 75% zoom, everything is out of proportion. If I wanted to play the mobile version I would, I dont like it so I played classic as I have done for the 20 odd years I've had an account here and on Inter.

There are plenty of helpful gameplay adjustments that could be made over this change which I don't feel has actually bought anything to the game, rather it has detracted from an enjoyable gameplay ecperience for me.

I second the request to have the option to use the original/classic version on a browser. Even if I need to access Howrse on a device (rarely) I always use the web version over the mobile version.

I also have issues with sticky title bar, all it's achieving is taking up valuable page space. The only thing on it that might be useful to have constantly visible is the notifications bell and possibly the inbox, the rest I don't need to see all the time, and it took less than a second to page up or hit the home button if I did want to see the info or access the links. Plus I was seeing that bar at the top every single time I went to a new page in the course of normal gameplay anyway so I'd never missed a notification or message for longer than a couple of minutes.

Other things I've grumbled at almost instantly:

It took me a while to find where the help link has gone (it's now in the profile menu).

I now have to navigate to the main forums page to get to Events/Gameplay when before I could just use the community menu and get here in a single click.

I do appreciate that the menus are much clearer to read, but I'm still waiting patiently for an improvement to the contrast of the unclickable affixes in breeding farm view so I can read them more easily.

I also assume that the Ascent link will return when the new season starts, will it return under the same menu?

Ignore my last question default smiley (lol) just realised I'd missed that part. I would prefer it back in the breeding farm menu so it doesn't get lost in the offers, but I'm guessing that won't be an option.

Absolutely pointless and not an improvement in my opinion.
I play the classical version because I didn’t like the app, now it’s so similar it makes it look like a cheap app.
I keep pressing the today button, the scrolling menu gets in the way and the navigation is more clicks for forums.
There are much better improvements that could have been implemented which would have made gameplay better

Agreeing with the above comments regarding the sticky title bar more than anything, having also set up my game a similar way to streamline certain aspects of gameplay. I play exclusively on browser and, up until now, classic version since starting in 2012. An option to play on true classic would solve a lot of the issues players like myself are having now.

These changes don't seem to be offering much improvement to quality of life, merely a visual change that I feel many players have gripes with.

This update has made the game unplayable for me. I’m using the desktop site on a laptop and the clear bar at the top staying still while I scroll and everything else below and underneath it moving is giving me major motion sickness. I can’t use the game for more than a few minutes at a time without feeling nauseous. I’ve never had this problem before.

It feels like design changes are being made just for the sake of being able to say the site is being updated and “improved”. I’m tired of having to click more to get to specific pages because Howrse is insistent on condensing the drop down menus (defeating the entire point of drop down menus). I’m tired of having to scroll further and click more because redesigned pages are inflating font and icon sizes to fill space (e.g. trophies and rankings). I’m tired of looking at gaudy blue and pink pages and clashing, inconsistent designs across the game. The traditional, soft yellow is Howrse’s signature look and is much easier on the eyes. It oozes nostalgia and warmth. You’re losing your brand identity with each update and making the game less accessible as well as more difficult/time-consuming to navigate.

Merging the mobile and desktop designs/layouts is never going to work. The entire point of having separate desktop and mobile sites is that they’re optimised for their respective devices. What works on one does not work on the other.

I don’t know if I will be able to play anymore unless the update is reversed. This is the first time a website has ever given me motion sickness. It’s really messing with my eyes. default smiley :s

It is a sensory assault on the eyeballs. Even turning down my laptop brightness hasnt offset it much.

I don’t usually post anything on here, but this has to be one of the worst updates in the last decade.default smiley (lol)
I am a mobile browser player when I want to quickly and conveniently do specific daily tasks, usually within my short breaks at work. If I want to spend longer on the game, I use the web version on my laptop but only when I have the time.
Now everything on the mobile browser version is tiny and easily misclicked, even if I turn my phone landscape as intended. What’s the point of all this if I have to zoom in on every page anyway? Even just getting back to this forum post involved too many clicks, messing around with menus, and plenty of squinting.
The old version was functional, playable, and generally easy to use and navigate.
Never even asked for this. Disappointed. My eyes are tired default smiley xd

The update has been an absolute disaster on my phone trying to use the mobile version. I have images over text, links are the good old blue and purple text, all my notifications have alerts but there's nothing there and I can't see my equus amounts.

I'm not sure how updating the online app ruined the mobile Web version! But please fix it! It's giving 1990s MySpace!

The old URL does not exist anymore. The new URL is the same but without the "m".

If you clear your browser and reinstall it, it should work.

I use my mobile and have always accessed via browser as I have previously found password and login issues with app. I found it previously very easy to use and prefer my phone in portrait view rather than landscape so this update I am finding rather off putting.

Please at least give us the option to change it back! This new version is absolutely not an improvement and makes it so much harder to play. The new 'today' button keeps getting in the way (and is a major downgrade from the old menu at the top) and the new bar at the top gives me a headache. And getting rid of the access to different forums from the drop-down menu is so annoying - surely those menus are there to make it more easy to see the forums.

I've always played on a laptop because the old version was functional and had a good layout. Please stop changing things for the sake of it - almost every recent update has made me glad I haven't invested actual money into this game (even though I've been tempted to do so).

Yeah this may end my time on Howrse tbh. It's like the old "classic version" not optimised for mobile AT ALL. Why would they do this? Needs to be switched back or I probably just won't boter with it any more.

the new design is really bad. what use to fit on my laptop screen without scrolling doesn't anymore and the page is too small and hard to see when i've had to zoom it out.

I play on mobile quite often, and while the idea of making mobile and website versions more similar is a good idea, it hasn't been executed well in my opinion.
On portrait mode, I need to zoom in to be able to feed/train/ride horses as it is very difficult to touch the correct pixel otherwise.
On horizontal mode, I need to scroll quite frequently eg to feed the horse, enter competitions and to view the history.
I find that clicking more is preferable to zooming and scrolling as it's less error prone.

Finding this update very difficult to navigate. Part of the reason I only play on the classic version instead of the mobile is because of navigation.

Shame that it's been changed, I really don't think this has improved the game at all.
