I can't remember whether the last Great Challenge had an extra day or two before the next part started so you could get away with missing a day, but it seems this one does not.

It does! You're okay, as long as you don't miss another day. The GC doesn't finish until 1pm on 25th, meaning you can still collect your final 100 horseshoes during the morning, just before the lottery starts.

Of course, you do have the expensive option of buying the premium key and allowing 120 shoes to be collected each day - and getting an extra 2 divines. But it's pricey.

The premium prizes really don't seem to be worth 600 passes...

Depends how you look at it. I think I can sell my jenny for more than 6 passes, so anything else is a bonus.

why only 2 draws aday

They changed this and a few other things in the last dev update. It was largely due to the biggest complaint about the draws being at very inconvenient times times like 6am. 1pm, 7pm, and 1am or something similar.

People are very busy with IRL life, which means you'd either miss half the draws or have to wake up at very weird times to get tickets.

Taken directly from the last update:

Changes to the lottery:
Two draws at a fixed time, every day: From now on, there will be two draws per day, instead of the 1 to 4 draws that depended on the Community objective.
This means:

Reduced time constraints: you no longer have to log in late at night or early in the morning.
Easier to participate: one draw every 12 hours gives you more flexibility.
Elimination of the community objective: This objective used to determine the number of draws per day. Now that the number of draws is fixed, it's no longer needed.

Rebalanced rewards: To compensate for the lower number of draws, we've made some changes to make the lottery more generous and fun:

More jackpots in each draw, giving you more chances to win 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize.
More interesting prizes. The chances of winning cool prizes have been increased.
The clover prizes are now more generous.
Blue tickets are now cheaper and there are more green tickets available during the Great Challenge phase.
The items in the clover store are more affordable so you can get even more from your winnings.
There are fewer small prizes, so every draw has more value.

If the prizes from only 2 draws a day are supposed to have improved then they haven’t done a good job. I only won a measly amount of clover in the last draw. Would have thought that a better amount would be given away to compensate for the 2 missing draws a day.

I noticed this too! Feels like the same amount of clovers and the same measly prizes

What do the clovers do?

You can save them up and spend them in the shop to get prizes. I can't remember whether the cost of each prize doubles or triples after each purchase, but it increases each time.

what has happened to the quality of prizes you could get with clovers, talk about disappointing, i don't use any of the items what's offered and i can get them all from either the shop, exchanges or piggy when they are offered

Disappointing is becoming a common occurrence for this promo you keep taking all the best items out and giving us stuff with no value

shame the promo are becoming less and less valued each time cause to much is being taking out what happened to the Nyx packs at least you could save up to get it now all there is are Hestia's i feel like that's there go to when they take the best item from the list

Disappointing howrse at least make it worth people's time ( I know this will fall on Death ears)

I manage the Eros egg in the last draw and am quite satisfied with it.

all im getting are clovers but used them for fragments
