My 123 boxes are visible to me but the game states 8 are “closed.” How can I identify these 8 closed boxes since they all look the same?

According to the game I have 8 “closed” boxes. None of my boxes have ever reached 100% wear and tear. Is it possible that they were just too old?
They have most likely reached 100% Wear and Tear.
Go to the Boxes page, and click on the 'Wear and Tear' heading. This sorts your boxes in order of least W&T to most. Either go to your last page of boxes, or easier, click on the heading again and the sort will be reversed; the boxes with most wear and tear will be on the front page.
Repair the boxes and you should be good to go.
This question is hard to answer without seeing your equestrian centre. Maybe you could ask this question in the gameplay forum, where player can see your equestrian centre so it is easier to determine what's wrong.
