You cannot remove your horse from a team unless:

a) You are a current member of that team and
b) The horse's GP is below that team's GP release limit.

If you are a member of the team and the GP is low enough, you can remove it from the team affix by going into Edit Profile on the horse's page and removing the affix or changing it to a different one
