Do you remember how it felt to have a best friend? A true best friend.. The ones that tell each other everything, the ones that have so much unconditional love and care for one another. Where you feel so safe to be any side of you, to be cringey and stupid and to share anything with. The ones that make you laugh and cry and feel so wanted and seen. The ones that support each others dreams and goals, the ones that always show up for you. The ones that'll have your back through dark times, knowing you'd have theirs too. The best friends that you cherished so much because they didn't want anything from you, except, well... you. The ones you have more happy memories with than you can count, the ones you'd talk to every single day, where not seeing them felt weird. Those friendships.. Those best friends, they mean everything in this world. And if you have someone like this, please try to never ever lose it. Because I miss mine, so much that it hurts. It's been years and years since I had anyone like that, and it's a lonely existence. It beats you down, having such an empty void in your human connections. My best friends and the memories we once shared, will always mean absolutely everything to me. I hope and I pray that one day I'll find another, but my optimism fades with each passing year, and I think my best years have already gone by. if I could change one thing, I'd go back and find a way to make them stay. Or I'd ask for the ability to read their minds so I could understand what I did wrong, what part of me wasn't enough, or was too much. What made them throw us away, what could I have changed? I think I'll never have the answers, and I'll never get to know how it feels again to be so loved and appreciated by someone who doesn't want a relationship, or anything out of me, other than being my friend.
