I have no issue with the Great challenge and I really like the lottery that we used to get after. However the snowball fights are another story. Absolutely hateful promo based sheerly on luck.

Howrse, if you read these comments, it would be appreciated if you took this into account: we want an event we can strategise on so that it is truly down to skill as to who wins. If a player has prepared and saved equus for months in preparation for the snowball fight and only ever gets 5-15 point items, there is no way they can win, whereas a brand new player who just gets lucky with mostly 60-75 point items will win without any struggle. Please give us promos that require skill and not luck.

Not a fan of snowball fight - even with constantly spending to get other snowballs the repetitiveness of mash, 5 aging points, and low value companions was tedious : the last couple of days I couldn’t be bothered default smiley (zzz) did get a few decent bmi but don’t think worth the amount spent. I also found it frustrating that the snowballs came thick and fast when ever you were in the middle of bulping or even worse trying to cover unicorns default smiley :s.

Like the challenge but not the snowball fight, I kept the prizes I wanted and got rid of those
I did not want, not bothered about ranking as it will never happen.

This is the last remaining Promo where strategy wholly determines who wins... I look forward to it every year! Well Done Howrse... the wee tweaks to the scoring BMis made it even more interesting...default smiley :-))

I keep stats on every edition of battle promos, to inform me how to tackle the next edition but also to keep an eye on who 'knows' how to play the game properly... lots of familiar faces in the top 20 each time and mostly not 'wealthy' players (or perhaps they are just very lucky players default smiley ;)default smiley xd).

The key thing about this promo is that a few big scores won't necessarily win you anything (one player started with scores of 340, 410 and 245 and then ended up outside the top 20). Similarly a few low scores isn't the end of the world (another player was outside the top 100 by end of day 2 and finished just missing out on a top 10 spot...)

It is a marathon not a sprint and to judge your chances on the latest few rounds, and then basically give up, plays right into the hands of those who know how to play... basically this game is won or lost on how you fair during the mediocre rounds... Howrse gives everyone pretty much the same chance of winning... everyone has good and bad rounds and how you deal with the bad rounds is crucial. Chasing a big score everytime is a strategy doomed to failure, and would cost a fortune in equus. Most of the time, you need to take those mid level BMis and grit your teeth, and then rely on the fact that you will have a good spell during the 19 rounds. If you have already given up then your good spell will go to waste...default smiley (8)

Personally these are my least favourite events, but I think this is mostly because I have rubbish strategies for the snowball fight and not much time to do the Great Challenge. default smiley :p

I did enjoy the Great Challenge more than usual this time as I could complete the daily horseshoe gauge with my daily horses (apart from the beach ride days when I had to put in more effort). I kind of gave up on the snowball fight after missing a few of the evening rounds due to dodgy internet, but maybe I will have better luck (and strategy) next time!
